Why I chose This Artifact: Analysis of chapter 2 of Mary Pipher's book Wrighting to Change the World
In Week 3 of my English course I worked together with my study group to create a study guide for chapter 2 of Mary Pipher's book Writing to change the World. This week I was in charge of analyzing the chapter. In my analysis I state the crediblity that Pipher has as a published author and psyshologist. I also state the effectiveness of her material to the reader and how the author introduces her material to the reader. I used to have a hard time analyzing text but feel as I have gotten older and more curious about life it is easier for me to ask questions about the text. Through our course we have been encouraged to ask questions of the various texts and with parctice it became easier to pull out the main points, understand the objectives of the writer, and reflect on the application of the material.

Author and psychologist
Mary Pipher
SLO 2: Read criticaly by summarizing, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating college level text.
My understanding:
I should be able to comprehend and access the usefulness of schollarly text. I should be able to summarize the key points, analyze the greater meaning, and synthesize the content with other meaningful sources.

Why I chose This Artifact: Annotated Bibliography Entry
Our annotated bibliographies were some of the ongoing work in which we had to evaluate the usefulness of the text in realation to our weekly essay. In this annotation I am summerizing the content of an online magazine article by Painted Seahourse which is a synonym that the author has chosen to use. After the summary I synthesize the content of the text together with the content of other annotations from our english course in order to find out what information the text is adding on to the knowledge I already have aquired. At the end of the annotation I analyze the usefulness of the material in relation to the essay that I was writing in the week. Please find the screen shot of the annotation below.
